Breaking News! Prop 4 Passes in California

Prop 4 Passes! We did it!

Thanks to all of you for your time and resources that were so critical to this campaign. Despite the crowded ballot and contentious national election, our collective work and leadership makes it clear that climate action is a top priority for our communities.

Please share about this critical victory using this toolkit to post on your social channels about our Prop 4 success! @YesOnProp4CA

There is more work ahead of us as we move towards the implementation of the largest climate and natural resources bond in state history, and the realization of your crucial on-the-ground work.

We extend our gratitude to the Yes on 4 Campaign Steering Committee and our legislative champions for their leadership, and to the many supporters and donors to the CCLT Action Fund.

We’ve made history for California with the passage of this $10 billion bond and we’ve made history for the land trust community, coming together to create a powerful voice for conservation, creating the CCLT Action Fund division of our work, securing our first ever seat on a natural resources bond campaign committee, and serving as the second largest contributor to the campaign.

The Yes on Prop 4 campaign marked a new era for land trusts, whose allied investment of time, expertise, and networking provided critical outreach and education needed to secure this victory. We are grateful and inspired by the unified voice and collective efforts of our land trust community.

Thank you! We look forward to continuing this essential work with you!

PROP 4

On July 3, 2024 the California Legislature passed SB 867, the Safe Drinking Water, Wildfire Prevention, Drought Preparedness, and Clean Air Bond Act of 2024. SB 867, now Proposition 4, will be on the November 2024 general election ballot. If approved by voters, it would provide $10 billion for safe drinking water, drought and flood prevention, wildfire and forest health, coastal resilience, extreme heat, clean air, parks, open space, and biodiversity protection.

Proposition 4 is the largest climate and natural resources bond to be put before the California voters. There is a lot in this bond to help support the work of land trusts throughout the state, including more than $1 billion to the Wildlife Conservation Board to fund projects to help achieve the goals of 30x30.
